I was very impressed with speciality magic act Rev-Illusion, who opened strongly with an improvised sword cabinet illusion, which was performed with umbrellas to a quirky Singing in the Rain soundtrack. The big-box illusion end of the business is really all about innovation and a more youthful and high-tech approach these days and this act really has to be one of the current market leaders.

The magical world of variety;

As usual, packed full of talent, Colin Matthews’ variety show shines at this venue and runs for eight months.

Two immaculate magicians - Scott Pepper and Oliver Tabor - working together (as Amaze & Amuse) and solo, perform new and astounding deceits. Their duelling spot is brilliantly different and even better, they can both sing and dance as well.

THE STAGE - APRIL 07

Springboard to Success: This show came with a ''dont try this at home '' warning and a fire crew. Scott Pepper was out to show his hometown audience there was more to magic than wands, top hats and fluffy bunnies.

Twenty three year old Scott conjured up fire swallowing,sword stunts and decapitation. There were breathtaking moments as well as stunned silences as Scott worked his way through a repertoire of tricks and illusions with a patter which belied his years. His performance was mature and confident learnt from his years on the holiday camp circuit.

Scott Amazed and amused the near capacity audience at the WestCliff Theatre and is now looking forward to his first summer season which will be in Eastbourne.

THE GAZETTE - NOV 06

The next time someone tells you that all illusion acts are the same, tell them to see Rev-Illusion, aka Scott Pepper & Co. Their set is a rattling good ride with all manner of petrol head themed props thrown in and an energy that impresses throughout. “We take magic into the 21st century with fresh ideas and brand new illusions,” says the act’s brochure and while those are heady claims indeed, you have to admire this inventive ensemble’s ambition to do something different - and wish them luck. High octane entertainment indeed

Amaze and Amuse present an original slant on the art of the speciality magic act. Here we have a clever magician and a kooky side-kick. The audience contact is attractive and engaging and the appeal of this act is obvious. Given the wholesome nature of the material, if Amaze and Amuse are not already getting their feet wet in the cruise market, I’m pretty sure they soon will be.
